Understanding the Aggregate Calculation for MDCAT & NUMS Formula
The Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) has set specific rules for calculating the aggregate for the MDCAT Exam 2025, ensuring fairness in admissions to public medical universities and dental universities. Recently, Dr. Noushad A Shaikh held a meeting with Vice Chancellors from institutions across ICT and KPK, where the passing criteria, aggregate formula, and result announcement were discussed and later announced. Based on the latest decisions, students must carefully review the details to understand how their scores are weighted. The information provided by the authorities highlights the importance of academic performance in securing admission.
Eligibility Requirements for MDCAT 2025
The passing criterion for MDCAT in Pakistan determines whether students can qualify for medical or dental admissions. To be eligible for MBBS, a minimum of 55% is required, while BDS applicants must achieve 45%. Those scoring below these thresholds will NOT be able to secure seats in any public or private college, making it essential for candidates to focus on their preparation and aim for higher marks.

Finalized Weightage for Aggregate Calculation
During a crucial meeting, the vice chancellors from various institutions unanimously approved the aggregate formula for MDCAT 2025, ensuring a fair selection process. As per the new criteria, the MDCAT holds 50% weightage, while academic performance in FSc, HSSC, or any Equivalent qualification contributes 40%. Additionally, marks from Matric or SSC make up the remaining 10%. This distribution ensures that students’ knowledge, consistency, and past performance are given appropriate importance in admissions.
How to Calculate the Merit for MDCAT 2025 Manually?
Step 1: Calculate the percentage of your MDCAT score:
- Step 1: Determine the MDCAT score as a percentage:
- For instance, in the MDCAT 2025, you received a score of 130/150.
- 1070/1100 in SSC/Matric
- 1050/1100 in HSSC/FSc
- These will be MDCAT (130/150) as a percentage. *100 = 95.45% SSC/Matric (1070/1100)*100 = 97.72 HSSC/FSc (1050/1100)*100 = 86.667%
Step 2: Proportionate your percentages to the Merit:
1- Proportionate MDCAT Score @ 50%
86.667*(50/100) = 43.335
2- Proportionate HSSC/FSc Score @ 40%
95.45*(40/100) = 38.18
3- Proportionate SSC/Matric Score @ 10%
97.72*(10/100) = 9.77
Step 3: Sum the score from Step 2:
Your MDCAT 2023 Merit = 43.335+38.18+9.77 = 91.285%
